Course Description
Course Overview:
- Review of DP technology and principles
- General information, sensors, position reference systems, thrusters, power
- Main functions and practical user
- Operator station, function, backup-resotre, alarm systems
- Process stations, function, system interface, network
- Preventative and corrective maintenance
Training Methodology: DP Technical Maintenance is predominantly theory based with guided practical exercises on a PC-based simulator of the Kongsberg DP system. Each participant will have his/her own DP operator station.
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of DP Technical Maintenance, participants should:
- Identify and exchange faulty units, with spares from onboard stock, to bring the K-Pos system back in operation
- Perform correct periodic maintenance
- Communicate with Kongsberg Maritime service personnel when assistance is needed
Target Group: Engineers, electro-technical officers, maritime academy cadets, and other users of DP systems.
Assessment: The participant’s knowledge will be tested by Kongsberg Maritime’s assessment system
